Premier Resort of KTDC coming up at Ponmudi

Ponmudi, a popular hill station, not far away from the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram would soon get an added attraction in the form of a premium resort from Kerala Tourist Development Corporation (KTDC) named Golden Peak.

The hill station is set amidst rolling hills and flanked by tea estates, grasslands and is also a place rich in bird life and other forms of wildlife.It has a deer park and the region is marked by waterfalls and rivulets.Kallar, a river valley destination is close by. It is conveniently located from the city of Thiruvananthapuram and the locals as well as visitors favour Ponmudi due to its proximity and the pleasant ambience.

With the premium property of KTDC all set to open in September this year, which is just a month away from the start of tourist season in Kerala, the hill station can expect an increase in the arrival of tourists this season itself.

Destination Management Councils to run Tourist Destinations

As part of the effort to further develop tourist centre in Kerala, Kerala Tourism has set up Destination Management Councils (DMC). Initially, DMC's would be involved with three tourist centres in the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram viz., Veli, Shanghumugham and Neyyar Dam.

The DMC would monitor and manage the destinations assigned to them and also the projects associated with respective destinations.The DMC's as part of developmental efforts of destinations would ensure quality facilities including their operation and make sure that the destinations are safe and clean.

DMC's will be vested with powers to address issues related to infrastructure, security, unauthorised developments and encroachments.The DmC's can also formulate strategies and undertake publicity and promotional activities for sustaining the popularity of destinations.
